 Alexander Burggasser
2nd Violin
Alexander Burggasser, a native of Vienna, started playing the violin at the age of seven.
When he was twelve years old he began his study at the Vienna University of Music with Franz Samohyl and continued in 1999 with Jan Pospichal. He has participated in master classes with Zakhar Bron and Avo Kouyoumdjian.
He was a prizewinner of the Vienna Conservatory Competitions and the Stephanie Hohl Competition in 1997, and in 2003 he completed his artist’s diploma with distinction
Since 1997 Burggasser has performed with the Vienna Philharmonic and the Vienna Symphony. In 2000 he was engaged as a section leader of the first violins in the Vienna Volksoper.
He performs often as chamber musician with his duo partner Susanna Koller, with members of the Vienna Philharmonic, and on concert tours to Europe and Japan.
